Creating A Perfect Smile

Hi there, I'm Caylee Curtis. After going through orthodontic therapy during childhood, I started paying close attention how a nice smile can increase beauty. With appearance improvements, comes a huge confidence boost that can also bolster your looks. Upon making that discovery, I started researching all of the different ways people can create a gorgeous smile. As it turns out, dentists play a huge role creating a gorgeous smile by fixing tooth and jaw alignment issues. Dentists may recommend that their patients obtain braces, retainers or veneers that improve tooth placement or color. I will use this site to share information about these procedures and more. I hope to help you decide if these procedures are worth your time and money or if you should find a different option for your situation. Please visit often and check out my content to learn more information.

Can A Family Dental Office Make Your Loved One's Dentures?

If your elderly parent needs dentures soon, you may take them to a prosthodontist for the services they need. But if your loved one doesn't suffer from complex dental problems other than minor tooth loss, you may look for another way to obtain their dentures. You can get the dentures your elderly parent needs from a family dental office. Learn more about a family dental office and how your loved one can receive dentures from an office below.

Why Can a Family Dental Office Make Dentures?

Most adults receive their dentures from a prosthodontist, or specialist who repairs the damage caused by complex tooth, jaw, and face problems. The problems may be too extensive or significant for a traditional family dental office to treat properly. However, a family dentist can make dentures for people who suffer from regular tooth loss.

The dentures created by a family dentist possess the same quality and precision as the appliances created by a prosthodontist. The family dentist uses special materials that mimic the natural colors of the teeth and gums. If quality or appearance is an issue for your elderly parent, the dentist can ease your loved one's concerns by making dentures that visually appeal to them.

If you think your elderly parent will benefit from obtaining dentures at a family dental office, call and make an appointment for them soon.

What Happens During Your Loved One's Appointment?

The first thing a family dental provider will do is examine your elderly parent's mouth. If your loved one has open sores, cuts, abrasions, and other problems to treat, a provider will take care of the problems before they begin the denture fitting process. Sores and other problems can make it painful for your loved one to wear their dentures.

The denture fitting process isn't as complicated as you may think it is. First, the dentist will take models or impressions of your loved one's jaw. To avoid complications in the future, your loved one's dentures must fit the dimensions of their upper and/or lower jawbone properly.

For example, if the dentures are too large or bulky, they can slip out of your loved one's mouth when they chew food, open their mouth, or talk. If the dentures are too compact or small, they may cause sores to develop inside your parent's mouth. A provider will send the models to a laboratory that makes dental appliances for fabrication.

Your loved one will need to test out the completed dentures to see if they fit properly. The dentist can adjust the dentures until the appliances fit your loved one's mouth comfortably.
