Creating A Perfect Smile

Hi there, I'm Caylee Curtis. After going through orthodontic therapy during childhood, I started paying close attention how a nice smile can increase beauty. With appearance improvements, comes a huge confidence boost that can also bolster your looks. Upon making that discovery, I started researching all of the different ways people can create a gorgeous smile. As it turns out, dentists play a huge role creating a gorgeous smile by fixing tooth and jaw alignment issues. Dentists may recommend that their patients obtain braces, retainers or veneers that improve tooth placement or color. I will use this site to share information about these procedures and more. I hope to help you decide if these procedures are worth your time and money or if you should find a different option for your situation. Please visit often and check out my content to learn more information.

Four Benefits Of Anchoring Your Dentures With Dental Implants

Dentures have long been an invaluable but last-resort option for patients with extensive tooth loss, being preferable to an empty mouth while still presenting many problems of their own. Nowadays, however, dentures do not need to condemn you to a lifetime of muffled speech and a receding jawline. By opting instead to have your dentures anchored to your jaw by dental implants, you can achieve a comfortable, natural smile while avoiding many of the downsides of dentures.

Slowing The Deterioration of Your Jawbone

Your teeth and your jaws rely on each other for support and nutrients, and without your teeth, your jawbones will soon begin to deteriorate. Many denture patients suffer from a recessed jaw and chin, which can cause premature signs of aging and throw off the balance of your whole face. Dental implants exploit the chemical properties of titanium to integrate with your jaw like a living tooth, ensuring that the bone and tissues remain active and healthy. Opting for only a few implants to act as anchors may not halt the process entirely, but it should still slow it down significantly.

Preventing Slips While Speaking and Chewing

Even the best fitted dentures may occasionally slip while you are speaking or chewing, which can be both uncomfortable and embarrassing. Some individuals counteract this using expensive and temporary denture adhesives, but that is only a stop-gap measure to help you ignore the larger issue. Rather than put up with this irritating design flaw, choosing to anchor your dentures can eliminate the problem entirely and leave you feeling like you have your natural set of teeth again.

Avoiding Damage to Your Dentures

Similarly, removable dentures are constantly in danger of falling out and breaking or of being damaged while you are not wearing them. Once this happens, you will need to do without them until a new set can be manufactured. Anchored dentures, on the other hand, remain firmly attached to your jaw and should only be broken through negligent behavior or simple age. If your dentures do break, it is relatively easy to detach them from the implant posts and install their replacements.

Keeping You Feeling Whole and Natural

Besides their convenience and added security, anchored dentures are becoming more and more popular because they provide the feeling of real teeth without the usual care and worry of traditional dentures. For many, the mental relief of being able to forget about their dentures is well worth the additional time and expense of having implants installed. If you are tired of the gaps in your teeth but have been hesitating to make the jump to dentures, start exploring your local options to replace your old teeth with a comfortable, durable and natural-looking new smile instead.
